The Decatur Eagles picked up a much needed league win at home against Gainesville Friday, 4-1.

Decatur (8-15, 2-3) scored two runs in the first two innings to take a 2-1 lead early. They added two more runs in the fifth to put the game away.

Dewey Dovel got the start and went all seven innings, allowing two hits and striking out 13.

Cain Lowe, Christian Carrillo, Reid Metcalf, Clayton Egle, Michael Hicks, Erik Elder and Dovel all had hits.

“I told the kids that we are still in this thing, we just have to take care of business,” Decatur coach Chris Carter said. “We just have to support our pitchers and keep it clean defensively.”

Decatur hosts Bridgeport Friday.
