The postseason awards continue to pour in for four Wise County baseball players.
This week the Texas Sports Writers Association announced their all-state teams with Chico’s Hunter Clarke, Hunter York and Dustin Hardee along with Bridgeport’s Omar Martinez being recognized.
Clarke earned Class A all-state second baseman honors. The senior led the county with a .468 average, had 50 stolen bases and 24 RBIs. Clarke was the District 9-A Offensive MVP and the All-Wise Co-Offensive MVP.
York picked up Class A all-state honorable mention pitcher and shortstop honors for the Dragons. York kept batters off balance with a 1.86 ERA and 102 strikeouts. The senior batted .319 with 20 RBIs and had a .901 fielding percentage.
Hardee also was selected as an honorable mention all-state shortstop. He had an .894 fielding percentage and batted .401 with 27 RBIs.
Bridgeport’s Omar Martinez landed on the Class 3A all-state second team as a third baseman. The District 9-3A MVP had a .923 fielding percentage. On the mound he posted a 2.91 ERA with 61 strikeouts.
Krum’s Ty Damron, the District 9-3A MVP and a recent Los Angeles Dodgers signee, picked up Class 3A first-team pitcher honors. He also garnered an honorable mention nod as a designated hitter.
