My name is Amanda Strine. I was hoping to send out a message to everyone who has helped me and my family since the fire on Jan. 6 at Eighter from Decatur Apartments.
I would like to thank Decatur and Bridgeport Fire Departments, Decatur Police Department and Wise County 911 for their fast response and for the brave firefighters that risked their lives to put out the fire. They did the very best they could to get it under control so fast. I know they don’t hear it every day, but “thank you!”
I would also like to thank Wise County American Red Cross for helping us after the fire and for finding shelter so we could be safe from the cold. Wendy is a very sweet and wonderful woman. Richard also gave my son a Mickey Mouse stuffed animal to comfort him after the fire, which he still has. Thank you, Wendy and Richard.
I would also like to thank Crossroads Family Church for their loving hearts and for doing everything to help my family and the other families who were displaced by the fire. They are an amazing group of people.
I would also like to thank the Wise County Messenger for their support and for putting out my story to help others. Your reporter, Brian Knox, was very kind and very sweet. Joe Duty was also very supportive as he took pictures. Both are amazing men with heart.
My family and I have found a place to live, and we are moving in very soon. I’m very happy and so are my children. Thank you again for your prayers and positive thoughts for us.
