Thankful for athletic trainer’s dedication

By Paul Walsh | Published Wednesday, February 6, 2013

I wish to express my gratitude, and publicly recognize Coach Billy Newsom of Bridgeport High School. Coach Newsom is the school’s athletic trainer.

Anyone who has attended any athletic event, whether at home or away, has observed him at work when a participant is injured. The athlete may be from our hometown, a rival team or from anywhere – Mr. Newsom is there.

Whether on a playing field or a battlefield, the first person everyone cries out for when injured or in pain is the medic, or the trainer, someone who often is taken for granted until needed.

Thank you, Coach, for patching up and mending my daughter and everyone you have unselfishly responded to and repaired. Your compassion and unwavering dedication has not, and will not, go unnoticed.
