LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Thank you from family of county judge

On Oct. 14, 2013, Our Heavenly Father called Billy Mike McElhaney to serve in His kingdom. Our hearts were broken as we faced the absence of his spirit, but we know that his beauty will reach far in heaven as it has here on Earth.

The depth, grandness and goodwill of his life is evidenced in all that he did and desired to do for the goodness of us all. He was an honorable man who valued integrity, honesty and a hard day’s work. He was a man of humor who loved his life, his community and he loved us.

We are forever grateful to all of you. From the moment of his passing, the abundance of love and support from family, friends, colleagues and so many others has helped provide an unbridled comfort. Your stories show us you have shared in our love for him. Your laughter has let us know you have celebrated his life. The flags at half-staff gave proof of your respect for him. The tears you shared with us let us know you miss him, too. With all that you have done – words, flowers, food, prayers and so much more – you have placed warmth in our hearts, and we cannot thank you enough.

In appreciation, we offer an Irish blessing that Billy carried daily on a coin in his pocket, “May your troubles be less, your blessings be more, and nothing but happiness come through your door.”

With love and gratitude,
The family of Billy McElhaney
