Stop the fighting in school

By Aspen Clawson | Published Wednesday, June 12, 2013

I made this argumentative essay to show how bad fights are in school and show how we can try to encourage the kids to stop fighting. I think it would be good for some of the teachers and/or parents to read my essay to help prevent the fights.

On Feb. 26, 2012, ABC News reported that an 11-year-old girl died after a fight with her best friend over a boy. There have been at least three fights in McCarroll Middle School the past six weeks.

I don’t understand why fights start. People want to find a way to stop them. McCarroll Middle School is trying to promote respect by hanging posters up that say, “Stop Bullying,” but they don’t work.

We need to get kids to stop fighting. Maybe they could throw a little party during their free class. Caabi.org said in a recent study that 77 percent of students have been in fights. Make sure you see clear consequences when students fight.

Mrs. Lemieux stated, “I love my students and care for y’all.” Teachers treat their students like family; they don’t want to see them get hurt. We need to get the kids to stop fighting. No one should die or get hurt over fights.
