Dedication a moment of sweet harmony

I attended the dedication of the Texas Historical Marker at St. John Baptist Church after reading your article last week. What an enjoyable afternoon it was!

With the help of Rosalie Gregg and Kerry Clower of the Wise County Historical Society, Sharon Dawson laboriously gathered historical records to validate its significance in the Decatur community. I commend her for her efforts – for I know it is a difficult and time-consuming process.

The best part of the day, however, happened as the congregation sang, “Oh, How I Love Jesus” together. Here we were, people of all ages, races and denominations singing in harmony together. It was a moment I will long remember.

Thank you to the entire congregation of the church for making me feel so welcomed, and best wishes for the next 131 years!
