I want to make you aware of a new website that went live Tuesday, June 18 – www.bridgeportlake.org.
“Fill Bridgeport Lake” (FBL) is a political action effort to cause Tarrant Regional Water District to STOP draining Lake Bridgeport in relation to downstream sister lakes.
Wise County, area residents, businesses, lake users, cities, and area economic development groups, etc. have suffered long enough over the past decades for no reason, only to support the users (cities) downstream.
Water levels are 18 feet low compared to other lakes in the system that are only several feet low.
In the first 24 hours, the website had had 1,285 concerned citizens sign the petition.
On Thursday, June 20, TRWD stopped releasing water, two months earlier than planned.
Readers, visit www.bridgeportlake.org for additional information.
We just can’t take it anymore.

Editor’s note: In a Messenger story published May 18, representatives from Tarrant Regional Water District said they would stop releasing water from Lake Bridgeport around July 1. If TRWD, stopped releasing water on June 20, that is about two weeks earlier than planned, not two months.
