Square Talk: Six Flags and rides

By Messenger Staff | Published Wednesday, July 24, 2013

{{{*}}}Has the recent fatal accident at Six Flags over Texas made you more hesitant to go on rides at carnivals and/or amusement parks?

“I really don’t worry about places like Six Flags. When you think of the millions of people who have been – I would still go. You can’t wrap everybody in gauze. You gotta live. And there’s risk in life. You could get hit walking across the street.”
- Linda Turner, of Decatur

“I don’t go to them to start with. I did that one time, and I didn’t like it too much. But it most definitely makes me not want to ride it.”
- Richard Butts, of Decatur

“They need more people in authority working on those rides. They need somebody besides just kids making sure that everybody is strapped in correctly.”
- Judy Melvin, of Paradise.

“I’ll still go to Six Flags and ride some of the rides, but that wouldn’t be one of the rides I’d get on.”
- Marilyn Melvin, of Paradise
