Somehow the recent coffee shop conversation turned to fence building. Not sure how that happened.
I bragged on my brother who, in the mid-60s, was part owner of a ranch in Tatum, N.M. I mentioned the fact that when Joe built a fence, an observer could stand in front of the first post, align the other posts in the run and be unable to see the rest of them.
Then came my mistake:
I said, “If I could build a fence like that, I believe I would brag about it. Fence building might not look too great on my resume …”
Then Don Jackson interrupted me in the middle of the sentence. He said, “… but it would be better than nothing!”
