Youth Fair queen contestants – FFA

Paris Ann Walther, 18, of Decatur is the daughter of James and Laura Walther. She is representing Decatur FFA.

Paris has participated in the Youth Fair horse show every year since 2007 and she participated in the goat show from 2009 to 2012, the art show in 2011 and will participate in the floral design contest in 2013.

She has won the All-Around Cowgirl title in the Youth Fair Rodeo every year since 2008, and she won second place with her pencil drawing in 2011.

Paris’ other honors include: All-Around Roper at the R.E. Josey Championship Roping Clinic, All-State Journalism Staff and DHS Student of the Month for September. She has also earned her State Lonestar FFA Degree and was crowned 2013 Miss Decatur High School.

Her favorite subjects are advanced animal science and psychology. Paris is also interested in agriculture and public relations. Her favorite sport is girls breakaway roping.

She is a member of Student Council, FFA and the Decatur Rodeo Team, and she participates in UIL.

Paris is also a member of the First United Methodist Church youth group, taught youth Sunday school classes and volunteers with vacation Bible school. She also volunteers with the Wise County Animal Shelter.

She enjoys breakaway and ribbon roping, writing columns, line dancing and exercising.

Her favorite friend is her American Quarter Horse, Juanita.

JORDANN WARREN

Jordan Warren

Jordann Warren, 18, of Alvord is the daughter of David and Michelle Warren. She is representing Alvord FFA.

Jordann is FFA president, Student Council vice president, National Honor Society officer and varsity cheerleading captain. She is also a member of FCCLA and Spanish Club.

Her favorite subject is forensic science, and she enjoys cheering, watching basketball, horseback riding, singing at church and shopping.

Jordann is a member of the National Honor Society and was a recipient of the New Outstanding Student Scholarship.

She leads Sunday school at her church, helps with worship service and is going on a mission trip to Honduras next year.

Jordann’s favorite friend is her little sister, Bella.

TAYLOR RECTOR

Taylor Rector, 18, of Decatur is the daughter of Mark and Susan Rector. She is representing Paradise FFA.

Taylor is FFA president, and she has also served her chapter as secretary in 2011-2012 and sentinel in 2010-2011.

In FFA, she has been a Chapter and District 1 Star Greenhand, Area runner-up; District 1 Chapter Farmer, Area runner-up; District 1 Beef Proficiency winner, Area runner-up; District 1 Forage Production winner, Area runner-up; District 1 Diversified Livestock winner, Area runner-up; Greenhand Creed speaker; Greenhand Chapter Conducting vice president; Senior Chapter Conducting vice president, 2011, 2012 Area qualifiers, second place at district; and Senior Quiz Team 2011, second place District, Area qualifiers.

Taylor has also played varsity softball three years and is part of Texas Force Fast Pitch.

She’s a member of Relay For Life, participates in UIL and is the student representative for Paradise’s Health Committee.

Her favorite subjects are English and graphic design. She also enjoys adventure, reading and has an interest in nursing. Her favorite friends are Kayla and Tayler, and she is a member of the First Baptist Church of Paradise youth group.

She also likes to work out, teach swimming lessons and perform community service.

Taylor is a member of Texas Army National Guard and will be leaving for basic training in June. She’s also received a softball scholarship from Marion Military Institute in Marion, Ala.

KENZIE CANTRELL

Kenzie Cantrell, 18, of Chico is the daughter of Paul and Kim Cantrell. She is representing Chico FFA.

Kenzie is the president of her FFA chapter, and she’s vice president of the National Honor Society. She’s a member of the Texas Club Lamb Association and the Project Graduation Committee.

Kenzie is a varsity cheerleader and a junior volunteer at North Texas Community Hospital. She is a member of Cundiff Baptist Church and Rise Youth Group.

KENNEDY HUDSON

Kennedy Hudson, 17, of Bridgeport is the daughter of Kenny Hudson and Katherine Canova Hudson. She is representing Bridgeport FFA.

Kennedy is a member of Student Council. She was named Student of the Month in 2011 and 2012, and her favorite subject is history.

Her favorite sport is softball, and she also enjoys cross country and track. Kenzie rides four-wheelers, follows Supercross and enjoys hunting, ice-skating and bowling. She is also close to friends and family, and she participates in youth missions and her church’s youth group.

Her favorite friends are Karlee Godwin, China Brattis and Bailey Higgins.

TAYLOR TRULY

Taylor Truly, 17, of Boyd is the daughter of Cathy Fowler. Taylor is representing Boyd FFA.

Taylor is the president of her FFA chapter and has also held the offices of sentinel and treasurer. She was class treasurer for two years and class representative for one. Taylor has also been the Student Council historian for two years and is a member of National Honor Society.

Taylor shows animals, and she won the Star Greenhand Award, Star Chapter Award, Outstanding FFA Member Award and will receive her Lone Star Degree this summer.

She has been on the Dairy Food Team for five years, the Radio Team for three years and has participated in Senior Creed Speaking.

Taylor’s favorite sport is cheerleading, and she’s been a cheerleader for four years. Her favorite subjects are FFA and science.

“They are both my favorite because they’re hands-on,” she said. “I love being able to explore all the different areas.”

Taylor’s favorite friend is Haston Abbott.

“He supports me in everything I do,” she said, “and encourages me to keep strong when things go wrong. I couldn’t ask for a better friend than him to be in my life.”

Taylor said she also enjoys meeting new people and spending time with her other friends and family. She also loves to be outside.

Taylor also volunteers at the food bank in Boyd.
