Wreck victim listed in serious condition

A motorcyclist struck by a pickup truck in Bridgeport Friday remains hospitalized in Fort Worth.

Douglas Campbell, 48, of Chico was flown from the accident scene to John Peter Smith Hospital with injuries to the head and torso. As of Tuesday afternoon, he was listed in serious condition.

According to witnesses, Campbell was traveling westbound in the outside lane of Hovey Street when a white pickup, driven by Ty Harris of Decatur, pulled out from the south entrance to James Wood Neighborhood Autos car lot.

Campbell laid the bike down and skidded 20 yards before colliding with the left front end of the pickup and coming to rest in the eastbound lanes of the road.

Bridgeport police and fire departments and Wise County medics and sheriff’s deputies responded to the accident, which occurred just before 6 p.m.

No citations were issued.
