The Chico High School graduate began her college career at Wayland Baptist University in Plainview. She currently attends the University of Alaska at Fairbanks and is on track to earn a bachelor’s degree in education this May.

Wilkinson has now been awarded the scholarship twice.

The grant is made possible through the generosity of longtime Chico resident, teacher and library supporter Lavonia Hawkins. The Lavonia Hawkins Scholarship is available to Chico ISD graduates who have completed at least one semester of study toward a bachelor’s degree or higher in the field of education. The library awards scholarships for the spring and summer semesters.

Those interested in applying for a scholarship can find applications and information at www.chicopubliclibraryinc.com or by calling Michelle Slonaker at 940-644-2330. Application deadlines are May 15 and Oct. 15.
