The Weatherford College Foundation has announced $1.8 million in gifts and pledges to its capital campaign, and officials say they are confident their goal of $2 million will be exceeded by the end of the spring.

“The Time is Now for Your College” campaign was launched to support student scholarships, campus enhancements and other projects designed to strengthen WC. It is the largest capital campaign in school history.

“I am so happy and excited about the response we have received in support of Weatherford College,” said Bob Glenn, campaign chair and treasurer of the foundation. “Truly, this campaign will result in making a difference in many lives over many years to come through educational opportunities at our college.”

Overall, 363 individuals and businesses have contributed to the campaign so far, with more than 50 donors committing $5,000 or more.

WC employees have committed more than $128,000 to the effort, dwarfing their original goal of $30,000. Members of the WC Foundation Board and board of trustees have committed more than $669,000 total, also surpassing their goal.

“I think it says a lot about our college when the family gives first,” said Dr. Kevin Eaton, WC president. “Those who are close to this institution see firsthand the difference Weatherford College makes in the lives of students and the community as a whole. This campaign underscores that, and we are very grateful for the support.”

Donors may select from a menu of programs to support, including campus enhancements, general scholarships, the Title III matching scholarship program, agriculture support, faculty/staff development and other options.

Officials are planning a victory celebration to be held in the late spring/early summer. For more information on the campaign, contact Brent Baker at or 817-598-6275.
