The Wise County Water Supply District board Wednesday gave tentative approval to a proposed $1.4 million budget for the new fiscal year beginning Oct. 1.

The budget is based on a 12.75-cent tax rate, the same as this year. The district is an entity of the City of Decatur and provides untreated water from Lake Bridgeport to the city’s water treatment plant.

Projected water purchases from the Tarrant Regional Water District next year total $446,700. The budget also includes $774,500 in debt retirement payments.

The water board will conduct public hearings on the budget and tax rate at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at Decatur City Hall.
