Trio busted for pot operation

After several weeks of investigation, Wise County criminal investigators and agents with the U.S. Postal Inspector’s Office tracked down the suspects and executed a search warrant at a residence in Chico.

Initially, information was developed concerning three subjects who were shipping and transporting highly potent marijuana from California to Wise County. The buds were being sent through the U.S. mail as well as being transported by the suspects in private vehicles. Upon delivery, the marijuana was repackaged and distributed.

Zachary Palmer, 24, of Trophy Club, Collin Jackson, 23, of Corpus Christi, and Robert Durham, 20, of Southlake, were taken into custody and charged with engaging in organized criminal activity. Approximately eight-and-a-half pounds of marijuana was seized at the residence with a street value of approximately $47,500.

The suspects were being held in Wise County Jail on $25,000 bond set by Justice of the Peace Mandy Hays. As of Tuesday afternoon, Palmer and Durham had posted bail and been released.
