A Decatur teenager was flown to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth early Saturday morning following a wreck in the Decatur Acres neighborhood south of Decatur.

Department of Public Safety Trooper Gary Reid said Elizabeth Susan Roberts, 18, was operating an all terrain vehicle, going eastbound on River Road when she didn’t make the curve at the intersection with Mockingbird Lane, left the roadway and crashed head on into a tree.

Neighbors found Roberts passed out, according to Reid, and called 911. A helicopter ambulance was dispatched and landed on Mockingbird Lane in the residential neighborhood. Reid said Roberts was flown mainly for precautionary reasons, and he did not believe the injuries were life-threatening.

The accident was reported shortly after 2 a.m.
