Stacy Spurlock, a clerk in the Precinct 4 justice of the peace office, took her Master Justice Court Clerk Certification Exam in April.

The exam distinguishes clerks who are well-rounded and experienced in both substantive and procedural law (civil and criminal) and who are able to assist justices of the peace and instruct new clerks through extensive knowledge of the court.

To qualify for the exam, it is recommended clerks have five or more years experience.
