By Messenger Staff | Published Saturday, September 7, 2013

Former Wise County Republican Party chair D.A. Sharpe, who for the past few years has served as the party’s director of communications, is stepping down from those duties.

Sharpe underwent open heart surgery on July 27 and spent 25 days in the hospital. He is currently undergoing physical therapy.

Sharpe said Friday that county chairman Allen Williamson will take on the communications role for now.

He plans to continue to attend meetings and remain active in the party.
