The Paradise ISD board of trustees voted to hire five new teachers Monday night during its regular meeting.

Three of the five new employees will fill coaching spots left vacant at the end of the 2012-2013 school year.

The board hired Kevin Pope, of Grandview, as the new assistant athletics director and head girls coach. He replaces former girl’s coach Eddie Fortenberry.

Also hired were Pope’s wife, Jodi Pope, as the assistant girls’ coach and P.E. instructor, inclusion teacher and coach Cody McKenzie, junior high math teacher Laura Wood, and high school math teacher Neil Wagner.

In other business, trustees approved the board’s consent agenda, annual TEA waivers, and scheduled a budget workshop for July 8.
