Readers invited to submit breast cancer survivor stories and photos

By Messenger Staff | Published Saturday, September 7, 2013

Are you a breast cancer survivor, or do you offer love and support to someone who is battling breast cancer?

If so, we’d like to hear your stories.

The Wise County Messenger is putting together its annual Breast Cancer Awareness special section to be published later this month. As part of that section, we are asking county residents to share their personal stories of breast cancer survival. Selected essays will be used in the section.

We invite you to celebrate your triumphs in one or more of the following ways:

1. Send us your personal stories of your fight against breast cancer.

2. Describe your breast cancer “hero” in the community.

3. Share photos of you, your hero or your activity in breast cancer awareness-related events.

Stories should be limited to 200 words or less and should include your name and hometown.

Email bknox@wcmessenger.com (Subject: Breast Cancer Awareness) by 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16. You can also mail your photos or stories to the Wise County Messenger, P.O. Box 149, Decatur, TX 76234 or drop them by the Messenger office at 115 S. Trinity in Decatur 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Submitted photos will be available for pick up after the section is published Sept. 25. Please label the photo with a name and phone number and include any helpful caption information.
