Wise County commissioners will have a public hearing 8:45 a.m. Monday, March 25, about the proposed adoption of a county solid waste facility siting ordinance.

The meeting will take place in the third-floor conference room of the courthouse in Decatur.

According to a notice sent from the county judge’s office, the proposed ordinance would provide the county greater control over potential future solid waste location issues by allowing the county to prohibit the disposal of municipal or industrial solid waste within its jurisdiction if it would represent a threat to public health.

The public will be allowed to comment at the hearing, but commissioners will not take action until their meeting 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 26 – a departure from their regular Monday meetings.
