After hearing a level III appeal filed by Toya Woodard in closed session, the Northwest ISD board of trustees will hold a public hearing on the proposed budget for the 2013-2014 school year Monday. The preliminary plan is based on a tax rate of $1.4525, which includes the current $1.04 maintenance and operations rate but an increase from .335 to .4125 in interest and sinking. The additional amount reflects the authorized bond election that passed last fall. The budget will be voted on during the public portion of the meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. in the board room at the NISD Administration Building, 2001 Texan Dr., in Fort Worth.
Trustees will also consider renaming the NISD Agricultural Sciences Center, name a principal for Lakeview Elementary in Trophy Club, submit nominations for the Region 11 Texas Association of School Boards Board of Directors and hear policy updates.
In addition, they will hear an annual report from the school health advisory council, a summary of the 2012-2013 district improvement plan and the May financial and investment report.
