LITTLE LIBRARY – Free Little Library in Boyd is now open outside the Boyd ISD Early Childhood Building (behind Allsups). It’s open to the public, and the books are free. You can take one and leave one at any time. The community project is organized by Texas Neighborhood Services-Head Start Boyd to promote school readiness for children under 5.


SUMMER BASH – Stagecoach Rehabilitation will host a Splash Into Summer Bash 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at 2108 15th St. in Bridgeport. There will be a water slide, slip-n-slide, dunk tank, games and prizes, cotton candy, hot dogs provided by Grace Fellowship Church and snow cones. Call 940-683-8500 for more information.

BAKE SALE – Cuba Road Church Youth Group will have a bake sale 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at Brookshire’s to raise money to attend youth camp.

GOLF TOURNAMENT – The fifth annual Bridgeport Education Foundation Golf Tournament is Friday, June 14, at Bridgeport Country Club. Registration is at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. Prizes will be awarded for hole-in-one, longest drive in fairway and closest to the pin. SPONSORSHIPS – Organizers of the Bridgeport Education Foundation Golf Tournament are seeking sponsors. Levels include hole sponsor for $150; A+ for $600, which includes a team, a hole sponsorship, lunch, cart, mulligan, large print on the tournament banner and a listing on the thank-you ad; or Honors List for $1,000, which includes two teams, a hole sponsorship, lunch, cart, mulligan, bold large print on the tournament banner and a listing on the thank-you ad.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY – The Bridgeport Historical Society will host a program by Dr. Scott Tarnowieckyi at the regularly scheduled meeting at 12:15 p.m. Monday, June 17, at Weatherford College Wise County. Tarnowieckyi, who is on the faculty at Weatherford College, will be discussing the history of Fort Wolters in Mineral Wells. The program will be held in the lecture hall at the college. CHAMBER LUAU – The Bridgeport Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Hawaiian luau for its members 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 30 at Bridgeport Country Club. RSVP by Friday, July 26, at or 940-683-2076.


JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION -The Eastside Alumni Association is holding its annual Juneteenth celebration 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at Ida Lou Willis Park in Decatur. Hamburgers and cold drinks will be served. A bake sale will benefit the Eastside Alumni Scholarship fund. There will also be a bounce house for kids.

COMPUTER CLASSES – Decatur Public Library will hold computer classes in June on a variety of topics, including Job Searching and Resume Building, 10 a.m. to noon, Monday, June 10, and 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 11; Microsoft Excel, 1 to 3 p.m. Monday, June 10; and Microsoft Word, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Monday, June 10. All classes are free and open to the public. They are limited in size. GOLF TOURNAMENT – The ninth annual Firecracker Scramble benefitting the Runaway Bay Volunteer Fire Department is Saturday, June 29, at The Club at Runaway Bay. Registration is 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., and the four-person scramble play begins with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Women and men of all skill levels are encouraged to register either as a four-person team or individually and be placed on a team. Entry fee is $50 and includes green and cart. Prizes will be awarded in each flight and other specialty prizes including longest putt and bulls eye. WINE AND ART – Wise Regional Health Foundation’s An Evening Under the Stars wine-tasting and art show fundraiser is 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, June 21, at the hospital’s east campus. There will be heavy appetizers, a chocolate fountain, live music, silent auction and the work of local artists. Cost is $55 a ticket or two for $100. FAN DRIVE – The Wise County Committee on Aging will hold its second annual summer fan drive to distribute to seniors in need. Drop off your donations at Angels Care Home Health, Senior Care Health and Rehabilitation and the WCCA office, all in Decatur.

HABITAT ORIENTATION – Trinity Habitat for Humanity will have homeowner orientations at 10 a.m. Saturdays, July 20, Aug. 24 and Sept. 21, at First United Methodist Church in Bridgeport, 608 17th St. Those interested in building and owning a home through the organization are welcome to attend the meetings. SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE – NISD Partners in Education (PIE) is organzing a Stuff The Bus school supply drive for children and teens to ensure all NISD students have the tools they need for school success. PIE is asking community members to host school supply drives at their businesses and places of worship, or donate school supplies at the NISD Administration Building 2001 Texan Drive, in Justin. A Northwest ISD school bus will travel to local businesses and churches to collect donations on Friday, July 19. For more information, visit or call 817-215-0172.

CRAFT SHOW VENDORS – Vendors are sought for the Northwest High School Baseball Team’s Fall Craft Show 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at Northwest High School. Booth fees, which include a chair, helpers to unload, parking and wifi, are $75 for a 10 10 space or $140 for a 10 20. Additions include electricity for $10; tables for$10; and chairs for $5. Vendors may also pre-order a boxed lunch that will be delivered to the booths. Cost is $10 for a sandwich, chips, drink and dessert. Applications, available at, are due Oct. 1.
