ALVORD

GT NOMINATIONS – Alvord ISD Gifted and Talented Services is accepting nominations for the spring 2013 gifted and talented identification process through Friday, Jan. 11. Nomination forms may be obtained at all three campus offices and by visiting www.alvordisd.net. BRIDGEPORT

MISS TWISTER DANCE – Registration for Miss Twister Dance spring semester is now open and will continue until all spots are filled. Once-a-week dance classes for ages 3 to 12 will be offered at the Bridgeport Community Center on Mondays and Wednesdays. Registration and payment can be made at Bridgeport City Hall 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call (940) 683-3480 for more information.

METER MEETING – An informational meeting about the Automatic Meter Infrastructure (AMI) is 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at Bridgeport City Hall, 900 Thompson St.

CHAMBER LUNCHEON – The Bridgeport Chamber Oilfield Luncheon is 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at the Bridgeport Community Center, 1102 Lawdwin Ave. The program will be by Devon Energy Corp., and cost is $10. CHAMBER BANQUET – “Shake, Rattle and Roll with the Bridgeport Chamber … at Casino Night.” The 2013 Chamber of Commerce banquet is Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Decatur Civic Center. Networking starts at 6 p.m., and dinner is at 6:30. There will be casino games, a live auction, raffles and awards. Cost is $35 per ticket or $325 for a table of 10. DECATUR

DADDY DAUGHTER DANCE – Pre-registration for the Decatur Junior Woman’s Club Daddy Daughter Dance is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, and Sunday, Jan. 20, at Wal-Mart and online at www.decaturjuniorwomansclub.com or www.decaturciviccenter.com. Cost is $25 through Jan. 25 and will increase to $30 thereafter. The Under the Sea-themed event is 6 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Decatur Civic Center.

RODEO TICKETS – The Decatur Chamber of Commerce has tickets available for Decatur night at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo – 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9. Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased at the chamber office, 308 W. Main, with either check or exact cash, no debit or credit card transactions. For more information, call (940) 627-3107.

WISE COUNTY

DAR – The John B. Denton chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution meets 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at the Wise County Heritage Museum. Decatur Police Sgt. Delvon Campbell will speak about the Citizen’s Police Academy. Dutch-treat lunch will follow at Sean’s Barbecue.

FOOD SAFETY TRAINING – Texas A&M AgriLife Extension-Wise County is hosting a food safety training program for food service managers 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 23 and 24, at the Extension office in Decatur. The training includes materials and the state food manager certification examination. To register, call (940) 627-3341. Space is limited.

HABITAT ORIENTATION – Trinity Habitat for Humanity will have homeowner orientations at 10 a.m. Saturdays, Feb. 2, and March 2, at First United Methodist Church in Bridgeport, 608 17th St. Those interested in building and owning a home through the organization are welcome to attend the meetings. NORTHWEST ISD

HEALTH FAIR – NISD and Texas Health Resources Alliance will hold a health fair 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at the new Texas Health Resources Alliance Hospital, 10864 Texas Health Trail, in Fort Worth. The hospital will offer free BMI, blood pressure and bone density screenings and present information on car seat safety. Students from NISD’s Academy of Medical Professions will provide tours of the new facility. The NISD Elementary School Honor Choir, Medlin Middle School Orchestra Quartet, Square Dancing Club, O.A. Peterson Elementary School Choir, Northwest High School cheerleaders and the Northwest High School dance ensemble will also perform.
