BOYD

LITTLE LIBRARY – Free Little Library in Boyd is now open outside the Boyd ISD Early Childhood Building (behind Allsup’s). It’s open to the public, and the books are free. You can take one and leave one at any time. The community project is organized by Texas Neighborhood Services-Head Start Boyd to promote school readiness for children under 5.

BRIDGEPORT

SUMMER BASH – Stagecoach Rehabilitation will host a Splash Into Summer Bash 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at 2108 15th St. in Bridgeport. There will be a water slide, slip-n-slide, dunk tank, games and prizes, cotton candy, hot dogs provided by Grace Fellowship Church and snow cones. Call 940-683-8500 for more information.

BAKE SALE – Cuba Road Church Youth Group will have a bake sale 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at Brookshire’s to raise money to attend youth camp.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY – The Bridgeport Historical Society will host a program by Dr. Scott Tarnowieckyi at their meeting 12:15 p.m. Monday, June 17, at Weatherford College Wise County. Tarnowieckyi, who is on the faculty at Weatherford College, will be discussing the history of Fort Wolters in Mineral Wells. The program will be held in the lecture hall at the college. DECATUR

JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION -The Eastside Alumni Association is holding its annual Juneteenth celebration 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at Ida Lou Willis Park in Decatur. Hamburgers and cold drinks will be served. A bake sale will benefit the Eastside Alumni Scholarship fund. There will also be a bounce house for kids.

CHAMBER LUNCHEON – The Paradise Chamber of Commerce monthly luncheon is noon Monday, July 1, at City Hall. Lunch, catered by Subway of Paradise, will be $10 a plate. RUNAWAY BAY

GOLF TOURNAMENT – The ninth annual Firecracker Scramble benefitting the Runaway Bay Volunteer Fire Department is Saturday, June 29, at The Club at Runaway Bay. Registration is 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., and the four-person scramble play begins with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Women and men of all skill levels are encouraged to register either as a four-person team or individually to be placed on a team. Entry fee is $50 and includes green and cart. Prizes will be awarded in each flight and other specialty prizes including longest putt and bulls eye. There will be mulligans and raffles available and free food on the course. WISE COUNTY

WINE AND ART – Wise Regional Health Foundation’s An Evening Under the Stars wine-tasting and art show fundraiser is 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, June 21, at the hospital’s east campus. There will be heavy appetizers, a chocolate fountain, live music, silent auction and the work of local artists. Cost is $55 a ticket or two for $100. FAN DRIVE – The Wise County Committee on Aging is holding its second annual summer fan drive to distribute to seniors in need. Drop off your donations at Angels Care Home Health, Senior Care Health and Rehabilitation and the WCCA office, all in Decatur.

HABITAT ORIENTATION – Trinity Habitat for Humanity will have homeowner orientations at 10 a.m. Saturdays, July 20, Aug. 24 and Sept. 21, at First United Methodist Church in Bridgeport, 608 17th St. Those interested in building and owning a home through the organization are welcome to attend the meetings. NORTHWEST ISD

SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE – NISD Partners in Education (PIE) is organzing a Stuff The Bus school supply drive for children and teens to ensure all NISD students have the tools they need for school success. PIE is asking community members to host school supply drives at their businesses and places of worship, or donate school supplies at the NISD Administration Building 2001 Texan Drive, in Justin. BACKGROUND CHECK FOR VOLUNTEER – Parents and other volunteers who plan to work with children in NISD schools must have passed a criminal background check. It is available at www.nisdtx.org/volunteercheck.

CRAFT SHOW VENDORS – Vendors are sought for the Northwest High School Baseball Team’s Fall Craft Show 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at Northwest High School. Booth fees, which include a chair, helpers to unload, parking and wifi, are $75 for a 10 10 space or $140 for a 10 20. Additions include electricity for $10; tables for$10; and chairs for $5. Vendors may also pre-order a boxed lunch that will be delivered to the booths. Cost is $10 for a sandwich, chips, drink and dessert.
