After eight years with the Bridgeport Economic Development Corp., William Myers will leave his post as executive director.
Myers was named vice president of business development for the Denison Development Alliance. He submitted his letter of resignation to the Bridgeport EDC board of directors Nov. 5.
His last day is Friday, Dec. 20.
“He’s been a great ambassador for the city of Bridgeport,” said Eddie Bland, chairman of the EDC board. “Multiple projects have been completed during his time.”
Among them, Bland listed the Endeavor Bridgeport industrial park, Northwest Off-Highway Vehicle Park and Brookshire’s.
“He’s a really sharp young man with a lot of energy,” Bland said. “He’s also very positive, which was a huge help for us to achieve what we have as a board.”
At its meeting next Tuesday, the board will finalize the job posting and set a timeline to take applications and interview candidates.
“It’s like with the school,” said Bland, who is also the Bridgeport school superintendent. “You lose good people, but you hope you’re able to hire good people.”
Myers’ wife, Kelly, is an instructional coach for Bridgeport ISD. According to Bland, she and the couple’s two kids – McKenna, 16, and Will, 13 – will finish out the school year in Bridgeport.
According to News 12 Fox Texoma, Myers’ first day at his new job is Dec. 23.
“Denison is lucky to have him,” Bland said.
