A Tarrant County jury Thursday found Jeremy Sturch of Chico guilty of intoxicated manslaughter and sentenced him to 10-years probation and a $10,000 fine after a one-vehicle wreck last year that fatally injured his passenger.
Sturch, who was 28 at the time of the wreck, was the driver of a pickup that ran through a red light and slammed into a Tarrant County courts building on Belknap Street in Fort Worth around 2 a.m. Feb. 19, 2012. The passenger, Michelle Lynne Lightfoot, 31, of Boyd died three days later from brain injuries sustained in the crash.
An officer who witnessed the accident said she was westbound on Belknap Street and, despite having a green light to continue west, had to slam on her brakes after she noticed the pickup northbound on Throckmorton Street traveling at a high rate of speed. The pickup proceeded through the red light, through the dead end and into the building.
