A Decatur man died Thursday in a Fort Worth hospital from injuries sustained in a car accident Tuesday morning.
According to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s website, Clifford Fine, 81, died as a result of blunt force trauma.
Decatur Police Chief Rex Hoskins said Fine was in a two-vehicle accident at 8 a.m. Tuesday and appeared to suffer only minor injuries. He was transported by ground ambulance to Wise Regional Health System in Decatur but was later transported for unknown reasons to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.
Hoskins said Fine was traveling north on Washburn Street in a 2004 Toyota Tacoma pickup when he hit a 2003 Buick LeSabre that was crossing Washburn on Walnut Street.
Jouita Perez, 40, of Boyd stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of Walnut and Washburn and was crossing Washburn when the front end of Fine’s pickup hit the front left side of her car. Perez was not injured.
Hoskins said Fine was walking around at the accident scene and talking with emergency personnel and police.
“My officer even put on his report, ‘minor injuries,’” Hoskins said.
The chief was notified by the medical examiner Thursday of Fine’s death.
Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
