A Boyd man was arrested last Friday after allegedly firing a gun in the direction of a 15-year-old neighbor.
Deputies arrested Randall L. Hallenbeck, 54, after he was reported to have fired multiple shots from a handgun in the direction of a juvenile neighbor.
A report said Hallenbeck allegedly fired nine rounds from a handgun in the direction of the 15-year-old, who was hunting squirrels.
According to a spokesperson with the Sheriff’s Office, Hallenbeck was shooting into a homemade berm in his backyard in the 200 block of County Road 4593.
Hallenbeck was charged with deadly conduct discharge of a firearm, a third-degree felony. He was booked into Wise County Jail. He posted $15,000 bond and was released the next day.
A person commits deadly conduct discharge firearm “if they knowingly discharge a firearm at or in the direction of one or more individuals” or at a building or vehicle known to be occupied. It is punishable by two to 10 years in prison.
