Local elections are Saturday

It’s time to cast your ballot.

City council and school board elections are this Saturday, May 11, and polls will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Local entities with contested races include Chico ISD, the City of Decatur and Decatur ISD, Northwest ISD and the City of Rhome.

Early voting totals will be printed in Update as soon as they’re available later this week. Check wcmessenger.com Saturday night for final results.

Voting locations and candidates are:

CHICO

Chico Elementary School Library
1120 Park Road

Voters will elect three school board members. Paul Cantrell, Victor Gonzales and Greta McDaniel are running for Place 3. Noel Ruddick and Donald Clark are running for Place 4, and Craig Moss and Bill Hand are facing off for Place 5.

DECATUR

City Hall
201 E. Walnut

City residents will choose between Randy Bowker and Peter Rivera for Place 6 on the city council while the school board election is a race between Wade Watson and Tony Mooney for Place 1.

RHOME

City Hall
105 First St.

Six candidates are vying for three at-large city council seats. They include Chris Graves, Cole Blanche, Louis Godfrey, Charles Pennington, Ronnie Moore and Patti Mitchell.

NORTHWEST ISD

Newark Municipal Building
209 Hudson St.

Rhome City Hall
105 First St.

Voters will choose from three candidates – Kyle Morris, Edward Mergenthal Jr. and Anne Davis-Simpson – for Place 3 on the school board.
