Hop to local Easter events

The Easter bunny will be hiding eggs across Wise County beginning this weekend, as churches and other entities host egg hunts with games, prizes and bounce houses starting Saturday.

DOWNTOWN DECATUR – The Main Street Easter Event is 1-4 p.m. Saturday, March 23, on the southeast corner of the Square. There will be a fun jump, face-painting, barrel train and pictures with the Easter bunny. There will also be an age-restricted egg hunt at the First United Methodist Church playground – infants 0-23 months at 1 p.m.; toddlers 2-3 years at 2 p.m.; and children 4-5 years at 3 p.m. For more information, call 940-627-6158.

BUNNY VISITS NEWARK – The Third annual Newark Community Easter Egg Hunt is 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 23, at Town Square Park, 209 Hudson St. Look for 2,000 candy-filled eggs, plus games, prizes, food, pictures with the Easter Bunny and nine grand prize baskets for those who find prize eggs. The hunt will be divided into age groups: 0-4; 5-8; and 9-12. Kids without baskets can come early and decorate a bag before the hunt begins.

EGG HUNT – Senior Care Health and Rehabilitation, 701 W. Bennett Rd., in Decatur is hosting an Easter family event 2-4 p.m. Saturday, March 23. The egg hunt will be at 3 p.m., and there will also be popcorn and a bounce house. The Easter bunny will be there.

MUSICAL IN CHICO – Morris Memorial Methodist Church in Chico will present the Easter musical “Jesus, Our Hope” on Sunday, March 24 at 7 p.m. The church is located at 302 South Weatherford Street. Food and fellowship will follow the program. Call 940-644-5186 for more information.

BUNNY IN BRIDGEPORT – Bridgeport Parks and Recreation is hosting its annual egg hunt and carnival 2-4 p.m. Sunday, March 24, at the Bridgeport Community Center and Lawdwin Ballfields. The Easter bunny will attend, and the hunt starts promptly at 2. There will be inflatables, face-painting, games, candy, balloon animals and more. Call 940-683-3480 for more information.

EASTER EVENTS – The Bay Church in Runaway Bay will host the Living Last Supper at 6 p.m. Sunday, March 24, and show “The Passion of Christ,” at 7 p.m. Friday, March 29. Admission is free. The annual Easter egg hunt is 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 30, for kids 1-12, with activities for all ages including food, prizes, a bounce house and photos with the Easter bunny. The church is at 20 Runaway Bay Drive.

SHERIFF’S OFFICE HUNT – The Wise County Sheriff’s Office annual Easter egg hunt is 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, at the Decatur Civic Center. Food and drinks will be provided. Bring a basket for hunting and a camera for photos with the Easter bunny.

WHEN IN RHOME – The Parks Board and the Senior Citizen Committee will host an Easter Egg Hunt Saturday, March 30, at 10 a.m. at the Family Park, 400 S. Virginia Lane. There’ll be prizes, snacks and fun for all kids 12 and younger.

BRING YOUR BASKETS – Oak Grove United Methodist Church is having an Easter egg hunt 2 p.m. Saturday, March 30. The church is located at 1295 Greenwood Rd.

EASTER CELEBRATION – Balsora Baptist Church’s Easter egg hunt is 4-6 p.m. Saturday, March 30, and all children are welcome. The church will host a sunrise service 7 a.m. Easter Sunday, March 31. Breakfast will be served at 8 a.m. followed by regular service at 9:45 a.m. There will be no evening service.

EGG HUNT – Victory Family Church in Decatur is having a prize egg and candy hunt at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 31. The church is at 400 W. U.S. 380.

SUNSET EASTER – County Line Cowboy Church in Sunset is having an Easter egg hunt and lunch following Easter Sunday service at 10:30 a.m. March 31. The church is at 890 N. U.S. 287.
