Two Wise County firms are among the first to receive the Texas Treasure Business Awards from the Texas Historical Commission.

The awards, for companies in business for more than 50 years, were presented to Holmes Auto Supply and the Wise County Messenger.

“I have identified more than a dozen Wise County businesses that are eligible for the award, and I hope that they apply for the honor,” said Kerry Clower of the Wise County Historical Commission.

Created in 2005, the Texas Treasure Business Award program recognizes well-established Texas businesses and their exceptional historical contributions to the state’s economic growth and prosperity.

“It is a privilege for us to recognize our long-established businesses that have remained committed to Texans for generations, while creating jobs and stimulating economic growth,” said Texas Historical Commission Chairman Matthew F. Kreisle III.

Wise County business firms that think they qualify for the award can contact Clower at the Wise County Heritage Museum in Decatur at 940-627-5586.
