Habitat build days rescheduled

By Erika Pedroza | Published Wednesday, December 18, 2013

Despite a slow start, construction continues on the Habitat for Humanity Build-A-Home project in Decatur.

Volunteers have filled seven days, but several makeup days have been scheduled in January and February including:

  • Friday, Jan. 10,
  • Saturday, Feb. 1,
  • Friday, Feb, 7,
  • Saturday, Feb. 8

“These are open to the public and offer a great opportunity for team building and client relationship building,” said Beth Lopez, Trinity Habitat for Humanity sponsor relations manager. “It is a unique chance to build on a Habitat project and to assist a member of your community as they work to fulfill a dream.”

The home, located at 202 W. Oak St., is for Charlie Schmerber, a pharmacy technician at Wal-Mart and the single mother of Kendra.

To sign up to help build, visit www.trinityhabitat.org, call volunteer services at 817-926-9319, extension 111 or Beth Lopez at 817-793-2384.

“Review the dates at your convenience; grab a hammer and a friend; and join us,” Lopez said. “Make it a New Year’s resolution to help a neighbor or have fun exercising. It truly is a rewarding experience.”
