Chisholm Trail Middle School in Rhome was evacuated for about 30 minutes Thursday afternoon due to a reported electrical fire.

When Rhome fire units first checked on scene around 1 p.m., they reported smoke in the building. Within minutes, a ballast (a device intended to limit the amount of current in an electric circuit, commonly found on fluorescent light bulbs) was identified as the source of the fire and quickly extinguished.

Students were allowed back into the building by 1:20.
