Applications for the 2013 Wise County Youth Fair scholarships must be postmarked by Friday, Feb. 22.

A maximum of 14 $1,000 scholarships are awarded. One is given to a senior at each school, and the remaining are “at-large.”

Seniors can print the application at www.wcyouthfair.org/scholarship.

Selection is based on participation in the Youth Fair, academics, leadership opportunities, community service and major accomplishments. Applicants must also write an essay on “why I want this scholarship and what I will do with it.”

They must also submit their official high school transcript with class rank, copy of SAT and ACT scores confirmed by the counselor’s office and current grade-point averages.

Each applicant will be interviewed by the scholarship committee, and winners will be named during the Youth Fair, March 18-23.
