The welcome sign at the Decatur Civic Center will be a lot brighter soon.
The Decatur Economic Development Corp. Thursday approved a $30,000 grant to the Civic Center to replace the electronic sign at the entrance driveway.
Civic Center Director Lori Sherwood said the 12-year-old sign had not worked properly for several months and needed to be replaced. The EDC approved an agreement with Legacy National Signs of Grand Prairie to replace the electronics and refurbish the lettering and logo on the sign.
Sherwood told the board that the new $150,000 sound and video system in the Center had been completed and was working properly.
