Early voting off to light start

Polls opened Monday for early voting for the Nov. 5 general election, and a total of 41 people cast ballots on the first day.

Another 61 voted Tuesday.

Early voting runs 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday through Nov. 1 at three Wise County locations: the Decatur Civic Center, 2010 W. U.S. 380; Rhome City Hall, 105 1st St.; and the Bridgeport Law Enforcement Center, 1000 Thompson St.

Voters are considering nine proposed amendments to the Texas Constitution.

Paradise ISD voters’ ballots also include an 8-cent tax increase, a $3.25 million bond election and two spots on the board of trustees.

To vote ballot by mail, applications must be received at the Wise County Elections Office by the close of the business day Friday, Oct. 25. Applications may be mailed to P.O. Box 1597, Decatur, TX 76234, delivered by common carrier or faxed to 940-626-4283.

To be eligible to vote early by mail in Texas, you must: be 65 years or older; be disabled; be out of the county on Election Day and during the period for early voting by personal appearance; or be confined in jail, but otherwise eligible.
