In a brief meeting Monday evening, the Alvord ISD board of trustees got an update on efforts to generate more academic and career partnerships with Weatherford College Wise County.

Superintendent Bill Branum said the board heard a report on HB5 and the new graduation requirements that will begin in the 2014-15 school year. The State Board of Education is currently conducting public hearings and is expected to vote on a final version of the new requirements in January.

Branum said another meeting with Weatherford College is Oct. 11.

The board updated signers on the Alvord ISD Dr. and Mrs. John Walker Scholarship Fund, and updated the authorized list to pick up checks, deposit slips and mail from Legend Bank, due to staff changes.

They declined to name any nominees for the Montague or Wise County Appraisal District boards of directors and approved a resolution to recognize Wise County Texas 4-H as an eligible extracurricular organization.

No action was taken following a brief executive session, Branum said.
