Decatur City Councilman Jay Davidson has been elected chairman of the TAPS Public Transit board of directors. He has been on the TAPS board since November 2009 and served as secretary for the past year.
He replaces outgoing board member Cary Wacker who held the position three years and was recently elected mayor of Sherman.
TAPS CEO and Executive Director Brad Underwood said he looks forward to working with Davidson.
“Jay has traveled the long road with TAPS – through some difficult times as the organization was rebuilt – and now he has the opportunity to guide our future expansion as chairman.”
Members of the TAPS board represent communities served by the regional public transportation organization in a six-county area that includes Cooke, Clay, Fannin, Grayson, Montague and Wise Counties.
