A man was seriously injured Saturday evening when he crashed his motorcycle on the U.S. 287 service road in front of the Decatur Arby’s.

Daniel Masten, 65, of Alvord was transported to Wise Regional Health System in Decatur and then flown to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.

Officer Keith Hilton with the Decatur Police Department said there were no witnesses to the accident, which occurred around 5:45 p.m., but it appeared that Masten hit the curb and fell over.

When emergency responders arrived on scene, the motorcycle was in the service road, lying against the curb, and Masten was lying in the grass.

He was not wearing a helmet.
