A former Wise County couple faces trial in Galveston County for disturbing charges that include filming and participating in the incestuous rape of a toddler.
Jason M. Grant, 33, formerly of Paradise, is accused of having sex with his granddaughter, who was 14 months old at the time. His trial is set for October. He’s been charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child and possession of child pornography.
Alisha M. Drake, 24, who last lived in Rhome, allegedly filmed the rape.
Drake was charged in Galveston County for acting as a producer or director of a sexual performance with a child under 14 years old and for possession of child pornography.
Drake was arrested by Wise County Sheriff’s Office deputies last year and transferred to Galveston County where she has been awaiting trial, which was scheduled to begin this week. She’s been held in Galveston County Jail since April 2012 under a bond of $81,500.
Aggravated sexual assault of a child is a first-degree felony with a sentence of five to 99 years in prison. Possession of child pornography is a third-degree felony with a sentence of two to 10 years. Directing or producing pornography with a child under 14 years old is a second-degree felony with a possible sentence of two to 20 years.
Grant remains in Galveston County Jail, where he’s been since April 2012, under a $276,500 bond as he awaits his trial date.
Drake has had multiple addresses and arrests in Wise County during the several years leading up to her arrest last March on the child pornography charges.
She lived in Bridgeport in 2011 when she was arrested on an outstanding warrant for theft by check, and she lived in Aurora when she was arrested for leaving a child unattended in a motor vehicle in 2010. Records show she was also arrested for theft by check in 2007 while still living in Aurora.
Grant was also arrested for theft by check in Wise County while he lived in Paradise in 2010.
