Wise County commissioners Monday will consider their nominations for the Wise County Appraisal District board of directors.
Every taxing entity in the county can nominate up to five individuals. Chief Appraiser Mickey Hand will create a ballot with the candidates and return those to the taxing entities by Oct. 30. The governing body of each entity has until Dec. 15 to submit its votes to Hand.
Five thousand votes will be cast. They are divided between 26 taxing entities, and the number of votes assigned to each entity is based on its tax levy.
Wise County will cast 1,044 votes, second only to Decatur ISD, which has 1,129.
The five candidates with the largest cumulative vote totals will be elected to the board and will serve two-year terms starting Jan. 1, 2014.
Hand will notify the entites of the election results by Dec. 31.
Monday’s commissioners meeting starts at 9 a.m. in the third-floor conference room of the courthouse in Decatur. The proceedings are open to the public.
