If the three different meetings next week of the Wise County Commissioners Court are any indication, budget season is indeed underway.
During a regularly scheduled meeting at 9 a.m. Monday, county officials will present preliminary budgets for the county and the Weatherford College Wise County (WCWC) branch campus. They will also set the date for a budget workshop.
Other budget-writing matters to review include the annual road report and the program and policy procedures proposed for the county’s indigent health care.
Commissioners will also discuss current drought conditions to consider reviewing or renewing the burn ban; present the Wise County Historical Commission with the distinguished service award from the Texas Historical Commission; make a four-year appointment to the Upper Trinity Groundwater Conservation District; and consider establishing a $5 court cost for civil suits filed in county, statutory county, probate and district courts.
Commissioners will meet 15 minutes prior to the regular meeting to hear a report on property tax rates for the county as well as the branch maintenance tax that supports WCWC.
Rates for the upcoming fiscal year will be proposed during a called meeting 9 a.m. Thursday.
All meetings are in the third-floor jury room of the Wise County Courthouse.
