A two-vehicle accident in Decatur Tuesday sent two people to the hospital with minor injuries.

The accident happened shortly before 9 a.m. on Farm Road 51 South. According to Decatur Police Chief Rex Hoskins, a gray sports utility vehicle driven by Lillian Doubrava, 17, of Decatur was northbound in the inside lane of Farm Road 51 when she realized she needed to make a right turn onto Bennett Road. Hoskins said Doubrava moved into the outside lane where she was struck from behind by a white SUV driven by Jessica Craig, 25, of Decatur.

The impact caused Doubrava’s vehicle to roll once and come to rest on its top. She was not injured.

A child and another adult in Craig’s vehicle were taken to Wise Regional Health System. Hoskins said the injuries were not life-threatening.

The accident shut down one lane of northbound traffic on FM 51 while the accident scene was cleared.
