City talks sidewalks

By Messenger Staff | Published Saturday, May 4, 2013

Discussion items will comprise the bulk of the Bridgeport City Council’s meeting Tuesday.

During the workshop that precedes the official meeting, elected officials will discuss repairs to sidewalks along Halsell Street and an itemized list of intended uses of the 2011 Texas Recreation Trails Fund grant at the city’s OHV Park. Council members will also discuss closing a couple of alleys in the city, an item tabled at a past meeting.

Action items on the meeting agenda include a review of amendments to the personnel and administrative regulations manual (PARM) as suggested by the city’s human resources department. Changes include adding provisions that require direct deposit of employees’ paychecks and amending policy that allows employees licensed to carry a concealed handgun and to store and transport a firearm or ammunition in their privately-owned, locked vehicle. The latter reflects recent changes in state law.

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 900 Thompson St.
