Candidates rush to file

The filing period for the 2014 primary election opened Nov. 9, and several candidates wasted no time throwing their hats in the ring with the Wise County Republican Party.

Party Chairman Allen Williamson said 10 candidates had filed for seven positions as of 3 p.m. Friday.

Candidates and the dates they filed are listed below. Incumbents have an “(I)” next to their name.

No candidates have filed for the Democratic primary, but Party Chair Tracy Smith said they have some “commitments.”

The deadline to file for 2014 primary elections is Monday, Dec. 9.
