Boyd to consider ‘one-to-one’

By Messenger Staff | Published Wednesday, March 6, 2013

When the Boyd ISD school board meets Thursday night, they will discuss and consider purchasing laptops or iPads for students in the district.

Administration has been discussing a move to a “one-to-one” program in the schools. A one-to-one program matches up each student with a computer to use for instruction and projects. Most schools in the county have adopted some type of one-to-one program.

Boyd took a step in that direction last month when the board approved purchasing iPad minis for all teachers. Superintendent Ted West said they wanted teachers trained and prepared in using the technology so they could get the most out of it in the classroom.

The board meets 6:30 p.m., Thursday, March 7, at the administration building boardroom at 600 Knox Ave.
