The school board’s “Team of 8” will be a player short this year – but Thursday’s meeting will go on as scheduled.
The board will meet at 5 p.m. in the administration building for the annual training, which is designed to coach board members and the superintendent to work together as a team. Alvord’s board is still a member short after the resignation June 3 of trustee Randy Hamilton.
Despite a couple of lengthy sessions in which the appointment of a new member was discussed, no action has been taken.
Thursday’s training is designed to improve board-superintendent relations and go over issues like state testing, policies and procedures, strategic planning and goal-setting. It is typically conducted between July and December.
Aside from training, the board’s only actions will be to review minutes, declare as surplus property an old tractor, and consider any personnel recommendations Superintendent Bill Branum might have – although last week he announced that all faculty positions have been filled.
The meeting is open to the public.
