Superintendent Rod Townsend’s contract was extended another year Wednesday by the Decatur School Board. The board, by a 5-0 vote, took the action following the annual evaluation. Board member Alan White was absent, and board member Diana Mosley had to leave the special meeting before the vote.

During Thursday’s regular meeting, the board hired Kristy Lilley as the new fine arts director and theatre arts teacher at the high school. She is filling the vacancy created by the resignation of Lance Morse. Morse is leaving the school after accepting a position with MJM Creative.

Also Thursday, the board voted to move ahead with the project that will renovate the district-owned building built in 1938 as a high school to transform it into the district’s administration building. The building most recently was the temporary home of Weatherford College Wise County prior to the opening of the new facility last year.
